The Sentinel offers nonprofits and other community organizations the opportunity to promote upcoming events on the Community Calendar for free for three days prior to the event. Events requiring reservations can be promoted up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require purchase from a for-profit company, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not calendar eligible.

• 49th Annual Meat Canning Kick-Off Meeting — 6:30 p.m., Oct. 27, Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham. Saturday October 8

• Breakfast by plane, by car, walk-in — 8:00 am to 10:30 am at the EAA Club House, Hangar 4 at the Mifflin County Airport. “World Famous Omelet” as well as your favorite side dishes. Sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 518.

• Closet — 9 a.m. to noon, Big Valley Alliance Church, 30 S. Kish Street, Belleville.

• Helen Detra Gift of Life Memorial Walk — starts at 11:15 am at 4625 William Penn Hwy., Mifflintown. Registration 10-11 a.m. $20 per rider, $5 per passenger. All proceeds will go to Gift of Life organ donation. Meals at Smokehouse Griddle $10 extra at end of ride.

• Touch-a-Truck — 11 a.m.-

2 p.m. at Midd-West High School, sponsored by SUMMIT Early Learning. Lunch will be available for a nominal fee. There will be plenty of vehicles for the kids, as well as free books and balloon animals.

• Lewistown High School Class of 1965 Luncheon –

11 a.m. at Sal-Lee’s Dream. Classmates and spouses are welcome.

• Community harvest party — 1 pm at Betsy’s Main Street, 159 N. Main St., Milroy. Activities include a cornhole tournament, chili cooking, RIP tickets and a 50/50 draw. Information: (717) 437-4226.

• Coffee House at Ellen Chapel Church — Tim and Duane will provide entertainment starting at 7:00 pm and Bridget and RB starting at 8:15 pm Coffee, iced tea and snacks are available for attendees. Donations accepted.

6:30 p.m. at Reedsville United Methodist Church, 60 E. Logan St. The film shown is “Heaven awaits.” Refreshments will be served.

• Sacred Heart Thrift Shop Bag Sale — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sacred Heart, 4 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown. $5 per bag for clothes and shoes.
