FISH/SHRIMP

OPEN RECREATIONAL SEASONS: gray triggerfish, greater amberjack (until May 31); Blackfin, queen, and tang snappers and maids among other species of snappers and all groupers, including redfin grouper, except goliath, gag, and Nassau grouper in state waters/ federal.

SHRIMP: Coastal open from the Louisiana-Mississippi line to the Freshwater Bayou Canal, except closed in the Biloxi Swamp (opens 6 a.m., May 23). Opening at 6 a.m., May 23, from the west line of the Louisiana/Texas Freshwater Bayou Canal, except in the Mermentau River area (opening at 6 a.m., May 28).

CLOSED SEASONS: Recreational Red Snapper (opens Friday, May 27) and Gag Grouper. Commercial king mackerel (hook and line; gillnet) in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Commercial catch of large inshore sharks (inshore major groups and hammerheads) closed.
