Devonport Orchid Society ‘Takes on Bit’ for Show Return | Avocado

The Devonport Orchid Society Spring Show is back in 2021, after not taking place last year due to COVID-19. Company Secretary Irene Maney said everyone was eager to go after last year’s cancellation. “I think everyone is chomping at the bit because we haven’t had it for two years,” she said. “We run the show the same way we normally would, except for the check-ins at the gate and making sure there is social distancing.” IN OTHER NEWS: While judges from the mainland cannot attend, judges from Tasmania will be on hand to determine the best exhibits at the show. Once the judgment is completed on Friday morning, the show will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. this afternoon as well as from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to the orchid exhibits, the show will feature an exchange table, raffle tickets, potting demonstrations and sales of orchids, bouquets and bark. The Make a Wish Foundation will act as caterers throughout the weekend, with all proceeds from the sale of morning and afternoon teas and breakfasts being donated to the foundation. Entrance fee for the show is $ 3, while children under 12 can enter for free. The Devonport Orchid Society Spring Show will be held October 1-3 at Spryton &; Quoiba Memorial Hall, located in Maidstone Park.
