Marlborough – Doris R. Martel, 94 of Marlborough and formerly of Dania Beach, FL and Central Falls, RI, died Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care in Wellesley, MA after a long battle with dementia.
She was born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Paul J. and the late Roseanna (Gervais) Bergeron. She was predeceased by her husband Lucien H. Martel in 2004.
Doris enjoyed cooking, playing rummy, playing the piano, listening to music, attending musicals and concerts, and offering her candid opinions as a judge for all television singing and talent competitions. She treasured her two trips to Honolulu and loved anything tropical or blue in color. She also loved cats, never missing an opportunity to hold or pet them.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Elaine A. Martel of Marlborough and a niece, Lois Bardsley Sirois and her husband Albert, of Foster, RI. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Alma Bardsley and Irene Bergeron and her nephew, Norman Bardsley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris’ name to the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 694 Worcester Street, Wellesley, MA 02482-2837.
The burial is private.
