Good retirement, Peter Seated, of Pono Kai, who capped off his last day on the job after 21 years of service by attending the Hawai’i Lodging & Tourism Association’s Kaua’i pau hana event at the Royal Sonesta Kaua’i Resort in Lihu’e .

Glory, Samira Siale, Paul Toner, Sherry Sanchez Holcomb, Marc Bennor and support staff ‘ohana! It’s one of the few outings at the Royal Sonesta since COVID-19 shut down the island.

Well done also to Mayor Derek Kawakami, Kaua’i Fire Department Chef Steven Goble, Kaua’i War Memorial Convention Hall Manager Lenny Rapozo (they said he was in the office because the air conditioning was on), and convention hall support staff for hosting the first event (who forgot their vaccination record or negative test?) in establishment since COVID-19 closed everything, and congratulations to the 30 KFD members who have been promoted!

Congratulations also to the men and women and their families of the US Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands for attending a performance of the Cherry Cherry Band in Shenanigans this July 4th weekend. Mahalo, Steve Kelly, for the nice email and, yes, we miss the band that pays homage to Daniel diamond, Bob Seger, Bad Company and the greats of jazz and country. We need to get over this COVID-19 issue so that we can enjoy Cherry Cherry in person!

“We love Kaua’i, Thomas Nizo, and all of these great people who put on these concerts because we weren’t able to attend the Waimea Town Celebration this year, ”Steve said.

Have a safe weekend!
