Jimmie W. Parson Jr., 72, of Panama, NY, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA.
A resident of the area for most of his life, he was born July 21, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of the late Jimmie W. and Alice May Bentley Parson.
Jimmie was a proud United States Army veteran who served from January 26, 1970 to January 28, 1972, during the Vietnam War. After his release from active duty, he also served in the U.S. Army National Guard until January 25, 1976.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist by the Blackstone Corporation for 33 years. He was a member of Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion, Celoron, NY and enjoyed trap shooting, billiards and bowling.
Surviving are his children; Terry (Amy) Parson of Randolph, NY, Lacey (Ryan Manning) Range of Panama, NY, four grandchildren: Jordan Parson of Randolph, NY, Peyton Range, Kylie Range, Kipp Manning all of Panama, NY, and one brother , Daniel (Nancy) Parson of Mentor, OH.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife the former Paula N. McCabe Parson whom he married July 12, 1969, and died May 28, 202, one sister, Valerie Parson Anderson and son-in-law, Brian Interval.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Lind Funeral Home. The Reverend Steven Taylor, pastor of The United Methodist Church of Panama will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before Friday’s service at the funeral home.
