Carl Anthony Goslovich
Carl Anthony Goslovich, of Redding, Calif., Was born in Los Angeles, Calif. On December 24, 1945. He sadly lost his valiant battle with cancer on November 27, 2021, with his family by his side. Carl is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughters Michelle (Cullen) Kreider and Angela (Jeff) Putnam, two grandchildren Mikenna and Owen Kreider and his sister Pauline Goslovich.
Carl also leaves behind many close family members; his aunt Teta Neve (Goslovich) Stevens, and four cousins ââVinka Berg, Barbara Coffey, George Kerpon and Ann Marie Disalvo. Brother-in-law Thomas Sawyer, nephews Adam (Raquel) Quihuis and Jacob (Stephanie) Quihuis. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Randy and Sheryl Chaffey, nephew Mark (Stacy) Chaffey, nephew Danny (Marisa) Chaffey and niece Jenay (Terris) Holloway, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kent and Bev Pearson, niece Kathryn (John) Peyton, nephew Kent (Melanie) Pearson, brother-in-law Craig Pearson and sister-in-law Clare Pearson. Carl also had several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carl was predeceased and reunited with his beloved son Tony, his parents Carl R. and Georgette Goslovich, his sister Mari (Goslovich Quihuis) Sawyer and his godson William Berg.
Carl was humble, caring, considerate of others, and had a deep love for his family and friends. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1963, Santa Rosa Junior College and Chico State before enlisting in the United States Army. He met his beloved wife Sharon in middle school, and the high school sweethearts got married on September 20, 1969, upon returning from a tour of Vietnam. They have had 52 wonderful years of marriage together.
Carl was very patriotic, always flying his American flags and a prisoner of war, he proudly served in the military during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the First Infantry Division in Dian and the First Medical Battalion of B Company as a medic in Lai Khe.
Carl started working for Market Wholesale Grocery as a teenager. He rose through the ranks from sweeping floors to assistant buyer. In 1974 Carl and Sharon moved their family to Redding, California when Carl was promoted to Chief Buyer at Redding’s Market Wholesale site. In 1986 he was promoted to Division Manager of the Redding site until the warehouse closed in 1993. In 1995 they returned to Santa Rosa where Carl went to the San Rafael headquarters and the Tracy division. to direct purchasing for the retail grocery advertising group. In 1998, Carl retired from the grocery industry. With his wife Sharon, they opened a small business, “All About Nails” in Santa Rosa on Piner Road, selling beauty products wholesale. In 2014, they returned to Redding to be closer to their grandchildren.
Carl was a longtime LA Dodger fan and rooted for any team playing against the 49ers. He loved fly fishing, especially with his best friend Bob and getting advice from his son-in-law Jeff. He enjoyed the outdoors, sunsets, fishing in the Sacramento River, family trips to Yosemite, and annual trips to Klamath. Carl enjoyed spending time in the garage riding flies on his fly tying table and watching sports in his man cave. Thanks to Angela, the room is repainted in Dodger Blue!
Carl was very proud of his longtime marriage to Sharon, his children and grandchildren, never missing school functions, sporting events or a joyous competition. He was affectionately known as “Didi”, Croatian for grandfather.
A funeral service will be held on December 17, 2021 at noon at the Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA.
Carl has donated to many veterans organizations; American Veterans with Disabilities, National League of Families POW / MIA, and Wounded Warrior Project. Please consider a donation on her behalf.
