Syracuse NY – On June 5, 2022, at the Onondaga County War Memorial, a special “Flags of Our Heroes” program offered families a memorable way to honor posthumous veterans.
On April 30, 2022, 81 men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces during the height of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War were given the opportunity of a lifetime, Honor Flight Syracuse veterans traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit military memorials
“Flags of Our Heroes” ceremony honoring 70 veterans and their families with a posthumous tribute on June 5, 2022. Individual families submitted a special photo of their veteran in advance to Honor Flight Syracuse, the photos were taken during the recent Honor Flight Syracuse Mission #16 in Washington, DC. Recognition ceremony, Honor Flight Syracuse provided families with a commemorative certificate with the remembrance photo taken in Washington, D.C.
The ceremony was held in Memorial Hall near the area’s military history exhibits.
