Robert Omer “Bob” Doyle, 79, of Easton, MN, passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022 at Heartland Senior Living Clark Crossings in Wells, MN. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, MN with Fr. Greg Havel and Deacon Gene Paul officiating. Military honors will be awarded by the Wells Color Guard. Visits will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the Saturday before the service. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Barber Twp., Faribault Co., MN. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home helps the family. Online condolences can be made at
Robert Omer was born April 28, 1942, the son of Omer and Mary Alice (Temple) Doyle in Rochester, MN. Bob attended OLMC elementary school in Easton and graduated from Wells-Easton High School. Bob was a Golden Glove boxer, being the Minneapolis flyweight champion in 1958. He then fought in the Chicago National Tournament. Bob joined the United States Army in June 1960 and was honorably discharged in June 1962. On April 4, 1964 he married Rose Nowak at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN and from this union were born two children. Bob owned and operated Easton Oil, a bulk oil delivery business. He also owned the Little Pumper Cardtrol gasoline and diesel pumps in Easton. Bob spent many years as a bartender at the Easton Club for Norm and Sandy Berkland, as well as the Wells VFW, which he enjoyed and made many new friends. He was very active in the community, coaching the Wells-Easton Boxing Club and the Little League. Bob volunteered with the Easton Fire Department for 31 years and served 20 years on Easton City Council. He was also a life member of the OLMC and a member of American Legion post 569 in Easton. Bob enjoyed reading, watching television and the daily markets. He was very proud of his Irish heritage; St. Patrick’s Day was a statutory holiday for him. Bob enjoyed socializing with his friends and family. For more than 30 years, the family have spent summer vacations at Heath’s Resort on the Upper Whitefish chain of lakes. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife Rose Doyle of Easton, MN; children: Shannon (Lonny) Schroeder of Easton, MN, and Patrick (Deb) Doyle of Tomah, WI; grandchildren: Andy (Rachel) Schroeder and Bryanna (Troy) Sonnek all of Easton, MN; Nathan (Melissa) Doyle from Lakeville, MN, Tyler Doyle from Altoona WI and Kristy (Adam) Barta from Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren: Avery and Sawyer Schroeder, Ethan Fickett, Madison and Carter Doyle and Aubrey Barta and baby Barta coming in June; Siblings: Rob Neubauer of Blue Earth, MN, Dawn Doyle of Easton, MN, Don (Nancy) Nowak, Mark (Lea) Nowak, all of Wells, MN, Tony (Barb) Nowak of Owatonna, MN ; several nieces, nephews and their families.
He is predeceased by his parents; brothers: Frank Doyle and Dan (Jean) Doyle; sister Rita Neubauer; in-laws: Andrew and Mary Nowak; sister-in-law Jane (James) Ritter.
