John R. Hodgson Sr., 86, of Rumford was recognized on September 19 by Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice for his service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In addition to the framed certificate, an American flag pin was also presented. His son, US Air Force veteran John Hodgson Jr., had the honor of strapping him to his uniform during a ceremony at the Elder Hodgson’s home. Submitted photo

RUMFORD – John R. Hodgson Sr., an Army and Navy veteran, was recently recognized for his service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

The 86-year-old, dressed in his Navy uniform, was presented with a certificate of appreciation framed by Paul Dupuis, a volunteer with Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice.

Hodgson also received an American flag pin, which his son, US Air Force veteran John Hodgson Jr., had the honor of pinning to his uniform during a ceremony at his father’s home.

Family and friends attended the recognition service, which included 14 veterans.
