Snow hits Washington DC, Virginia with icy roads: photos

WASHINGTON – Some schools remain closed and hundreds of vehicles were stranded on I-95 overnight after a winter storm blanketed Washington, DC and parts of Virginia with snow. According to the National Weather Service, 11.5 inches of gunpowder accumulated in the DC suburb of Capitol Heights, while Rose Hill, Va. Saw a 10-inch coolness as the storm ended Monday night.

Travel was also affected as Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport received 6.7 inches of snow and further south near Chancellorsville a whopping 12.1 inches was reported.

The Associated Press reported that Virginia has seen more than 600 traffic accidents, including one crash with six tractor-trailers, resulting in a stop on I-95. No injuries were reported in the accident.
