A regional Veteran Suicide Awareness Event and Resource Fair will take place in Port Charlotte on March 26.

American Legion District 13, along with Project: VetRelief, will host the event which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 110, 3152 Harbor Boulevard.

The Veteran Suicide Awareness Event and Resource Fair will include Mental Health, Suicide, Therapy or Counseling, Service Dogs, Homeless, Female Veterans, Caregivers and Family Resources.

The event will also include children’s activities, entertainment by veteran band Blackbird Anthem and Vietnam veteran Pinning.

The Event and Resource Fair is a fundraising event where money raised enables PROJECT: VetRelief to fulfill its primary mission of “Help Florida veterans, active duty military and their families in times of need. They can address issues by addressing the status of a veteran, service member and family member in times of crisis, working to obtain benefits and offering support system.

PROJECT: VetRelief provides services “To ease the burden carried by our veterans, men and women, and deter these important issues from affecting their lives.”

The American Legion, District 13 covers Lee, Hendry, Charlotte and Collier counties.
