Linda Sue Szawiel, 66, of Keokuk, died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
She was born on September 17, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of William Floyd and Dorothy Evelyn Myers Eaton.
Linda graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1974. She attended Southeastern Community College in Keokuk and Truman State University in Kirksville.
On April 8, 1978, Linda married Robert Szawiel in Keokuk. He survives.
Linda is also survived by two brothers, William Eaton (Ann) and Arthur Yoe, both of Keokuk, two sisters, Judith Salyers of West Burlington and Doris Howard (Buddy) of Keokuk, one special sister, Susan Hayden (Michael) of Carthage, her mother-in-law, Betty Szawiel of Keokuk, a brother-in-law, Ed Szawiel (Karen) of Keokuk, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her grandmother, Mabel Myers, an infant sister, Nancy, and her stepfather, Claude Yoe.
Linda was a member of the New Testament Christian Church and attended the First Christian Church in Keokuk.
She has worked in several daycares throughout her life. Linda was an antique collector and had an eye for finding unusual pieces. She had a booth at the Heritage Antique Mall. She loved to sew and adored dogs. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her nephews and nieces. Linda will be missed by those who loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will take place after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the funeral home with family gathering between friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
