For most people, an RV symbolizes a road trip or vacation. For veterans who received Operation Texas Strong 2021 RVs, these RVs are right at home.

“We are tired of seeing homeless veterans on the streets,” said Bobby Crutsinger.

Crutsinger and his wife, Peggy, launched Operation Texas Strong 2021 last year to help give homeless veterans a roof over their heads and a chance to get back on their feet.

The couple plan to maintain the donations until 2022.

These people who are on the streets and who are homeless veterans, these people deserve a lot more than they get.

The Weatherford couple were inspired by Peggy’s late father, a Vietnam War veteran who bemoaned seeing other veterans living on the streets.

“Once you get off the street after that it gets a little bit easier,” Peggy Crutsinger said. “You have the ‘Oomph’ so you can do what you need to do to eat, find a job, and do what you need to do, but it all starts with getting them off the streets.”

In the past year, the Crutsingers said Operation Texas Strong 2021 donated recreational vehicles to 68 veterans. Each motorhome comes with a donation of linens and household items to help them get started. Everything is donated by the community.

“We want people to realize that if you pull yourself together, we could do more things,” said Bobby Crutsinger.

Peggy Crutsinger said she wished her father was always around to see what he inspired.

“I think he would be proud. I hope,” said Peggy Crutsinger. “I think he would be very happy to see a lot of people come together to do this.”

If you have a roadworthy RV or household items to donate, you can find the contact details on the Operation Texas Strong 2021 Facebook page.
